EL PASO (GLOB) -
I was in El Paso on business the other day. I was on the highway you see in the picture. As a passenger in the car I could watch Juarez sliding past. And I had a waking dream.
Mexico had been taken over by a radical group of extremists that claim El Paso as part of their ancestral land. They stage a raid into El Paso and murder and rape hundreds and then take hostages back across the border and start launching missiles into downtown El Paso.
They will not be negotiated with. They just keep launching missiles and drones and portray themselves as victims. The condition for the cessation of hostilities? Return to the borders of March 1st, 1836. Students march in support at colleges across the nation. They were marching at UTEP except the school took two direct drone hits. The surviving students are blaming the US Government. The Texas National Guard mobilizes.
The President of the United States tells Texas to stand down, now is not the time for violence, it is time to negotiate a cease fire. And the missiles keep falling.
I spent a tense moment considering what I would expect of my government if something like this were to happen. But then I shook my head glad that such a thing could never happen here. Not in these United States.
