As I was listening, I was surprised they gave up so easily. I think their limbic system was activated by tone they heard in the voice of the Puppycat. Their amygdala detected a threat, signaled the hypothalamus, initiating the fight-or-flight response, flooding their body with adrenaline and cortisol. Rational thought was bypassed and they hung up since flight was the only realistic option. Then they probably took a break and lit a cigarette with shaking fingers and pondered their hellish life.
