Let the 2028 Presidential Campaigning Begin!

WASHINGTON DC (GLOB) - I don’t think this has happened before. The likely candidates for this year’s presidential election will each be in their final terms if elected this November. Technically the term “lame duck president” refers to a president that is still in office after having lost the election. What interests me is that either candidate will be a lame duck president in late November of 2028. I think it makes for a sense of urgency on both parties to sort out their future candidates.

While we had a slate of potential candidates on the Republican side who seem like they could go again, it seems we’ve got nothing on the Democrat side. It will be interesting to see if Biden sticks with Kamala “It was a debate HAR HAR HAR” Harris. I quite frankly do not see Kamala Harris as a viable presidential candidate.

My friend, the Prophetically Outre Political Savant some call Pops, has opined that if the Democrats suddenly developed frontal lobes they would pick a centrist moderate running mate for Biden and then if Biden wins, he could immediately step aside, or perhaps have an accident with his morning oatmeal, and a real president could take over.

However, we have no idea if such a Democrat exists that could be groomed up to be a viable VP candidate in time for the Democratic convention.

Meanwhile, here is a question I ask in all seriousness. Does Trump even understand that if elected he cannot run in 2028? Given his passing familiarity with the Constitution of the United States, I think it is a fair question. Pops says the real question is will he simply declare himself king?

And I have another serious question. Does Biden even understand that if re-elected he cannot run in 2028? Given his passing familiarity with how to walk and read a tele-prompter or find his way off stage, I think it is a fair question.

Pops just looked askance at me when I said that and then said, “Keep it up and I’ll have to head-butt you.”

But, I do wonder.
