I had hitched myself to the idea of an online newspaper, part inertia and part nostalgia. But, I’m not really putting out a newspaper, and I’m more interested in speculative fiction and the bizarre.
I may recast this whole thing as “Tales From The Screaming Monkey’s Head” which means it will be wildly variable and well, fiction.
I unabashedly am stealing the idea for this change from two sources: JRR Tolkien and Arthur C. Clarke. The name of a story I started, “At the Sign of the Screaming Monkey’s Head was based on “At the sign of the Prancing Pony” an Inn in the town of Bree and introduced in the ninth chapter of “The Fellowship of the Ring.” And Arthur Clarke wrote a series of stories collected as “Tales from the White Hart.” That was a collection of tall tales masquerading as science fiction.
Curious what all the folks who have subscribed might think of this. I can imagine it ranges from “Yeah, I subscribed a year ago but that was also the last time I even opened an email” to “Good idea” to, “Wait, what? I want the newspaper format.”
I’d appreciate your thoughts.
Regards,
Mark
You have a gift of simplifying complicated issues. Particularly from a Catholic perspective. It’s easy to get distracted by the noise. So please use the decrapinator more often.
It is fitting.
